Found a new event in the town of Berkely, California- and its called Anime Destiny. It takes place at UC Berkely, and originally began as an event run by a college anime club like a certain other famous convention. Its now grown a bit bigger and they are inviting all who wish to join them. From the looks of it, Anime Destiny tends to focus mainly on cosplay, quizzes, informational panels, gaming, and musical performances. Like most cons, AD also has some vendors and artists looking to sell you their wares. The event is sponsored by TokyoPop, PMX, JUNGLE, Boss Robot Hobby Shop, and S-words Podcast.
