For those unlucky Japanese anime fans who haven't already gotten to watch Eden of the East in its entirety, it's been announced that the show's director, Kenji Kamiyama, is compiling a short movie version of the entire (originally 11-episode) series. The film, Higashi no Eden Soushuuhen Air Communication, wil open in three theaters (two in Tokyo, one in Osaka) on September 26th. This is, of course, a method to make money without making new material as well as a great way for would-be Eden fans to catch up before the Eden movies start opening. The first flick, Eden of the East: The King of Eden is opening on November 28th, and Eden of the East: Paradise Lost opens January 9th. I, for one, hope that FUNimation gets their hands on this, as well as the two movies, and releases a really swanky box set. (Or better yet-- releases the series in a quick-release before the first flick opens, and find a way to do a simul-release of them...maybe online-only to prevent reimportation?)Okay, I'm just fantasizing now. Sigh!
