Just a few items for your casual weekend reading and viewing...Number21Pix has a clip from a documentary called The Fragile Heart of Moe, which is due out this September. The clip features shoujo mangaka Eriko Takase, best known for her cute art style and the manga Rikei-kun (Science-kun), and Eiko Yonezawa, wife of deceased Comiket founder Yoshihiro Yonezawa.Unfortunately it's pretty difficult to read the subtitles on the video, because they're white and the contrast is very light, plus the video is small...but it's pretty interesting, they follow Takase-sensei to a doujinshi event where she sells her self-published works (although Rikei-kun was commercially published). Good stuff. Next up, Twitch faps all over Masaaki Yuasa's series Kaiba (pictured above), which I will second as one of the most amazing anime series-- or TV series, period –I've seen in years. Please, god, will SOMEone license this? It'd probably do okay in the art house theaters!... Speaking of reviews, over at the LA Weekly Liz Ohanesian talks up Detroit Metal City, VIZ's release of the popular death metal comedy manga by Kiminori Wakasugi. I haven't gotten around to picking it up yet, but I really should.Over at manga.about.com, Deb notes that even though Broccoli Books USA has closed down, there are still English releases of Cosmode Online available, and you can check out a free preview of issue 8 right here. Just in time for con season! And finally, how many Solanin fans do we have here? J-Film Pow-Wow has a first look at actress Aoi Miyazaki acting the role of Meiko in the live-action film adaptation of the popular manga. (via AICN anime)
