Lau- “Stop trying to guess my gender! IT MAKES ME ANGRY!” What?! We are at the end! Yes, indeed the end of this random yet entertaining series, well if you have been wondering where I have been lately? Let’s just say my computer decided it wanted a vacation from the world of anime and internet [...]

I’m going to try something different here and just do episodes 2-10 in one post. Why? Because if I didn’t do this, I’d never finish. Summary: We learn that Ruri’s sister Aoi is trapped in a stone cocoon herself and that Ruri’s intention of startion the Aiba foundation is to get retribution for this. We [...]

I have to say, Knight and Fei are my favorite characters. That’s not saying much though. This won’t be long, seeing as Sacred Seven is essentially style over substance. With the ‘style’ part falling a bit short. The characters are … Continue reading →

Probably about the best scene in the episode. These days, I wonder if Sunrise organizes an internal competition to see who can write the shittiest stuff ever to be animated and then whoever manages to sell the most wins a bonus or something. Otherwise, I find it hard-pressed to explain how can they write their [...]

With Kenmi triforcing all over the place, how is this not the must-watch finale of all time? This won’t be a long post ’cause words are unnecessary. This ending’s brilliance must be experienced in its entirety. All I can do … Continue reading →

Sacred Seven (セイクリッドセブン) As another anime original production from Sunrise, I was wondering if Sacred Seven would turn out as successful as some of their other recent original productions (Tiger and bunny, etc). That unfortunately did not turn out to be the case, where Sacred Seven was mediocre in almost every aspect possible, with the [...]

「セイクリッドセブン」 (Seikuriddo Sebun)
"Sacred Seven"
From the last boss transformations to our hero's newly acquired power-ups in the final battle, Sunrise threw in just about every single video game cliche I could think of. They did manage to wrap everything up fairly well, but the surprise turn of events one after another didn't leave a very good last impression.

Kenmi is on the rampage and hungry for power as we reach Sacred Seven's finale, but has anybody got what it takes to stop him given all the strength he's gained?
While Arma seems like the obvious candidate to go toe to toe with this powered-up Kenmi, it's Knight who takes a first crack at his ferocious opponent, while Kenmi himself wastes no time in using Fei as a literal human shield - a

So I haven’t exactly blogged in eons… long enough so that Kabitzin stopped e-mailing me to remind me that I haven’t blogged. But with some time opening up again in my schedule, I’m entering into the summer season as we approach the final episode. Because of that I won’t actually do a full series episode-by-episode, [...]

The biggest disappointment for me for this season is an easy one: Sacred Seven. For starters, consider that my two favourite Sunrise series of the past decade are Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto and Zone of the Enders. This series had the director of the former and the main writer of the latter. Together they could have [...]

Finally, in the penultimate episode, the plot is kicking into high gear. By kicking into high gear, I mean blaming it on the formerly ambiguous villain, who’s now straight on campy and evil to a bizarrely enjoyable degree. The plot’s thin as can be and almost nonsensical and too convenient with its twists and turns, [...]

Super Ultra Final Forms for everybody! Impressions: At least as far as the production goes, Sunrise did extremely well here for the most part. Yeah, things slipped quite a bit when Kenmi went down and the last boss became a giant floating rock that needed to be beaten with the power of flashbacks and [...]

"Sharpened Sword"
As the precursor to the finale next time, there sure were a lot of loose ends tied up in this episode. Problem is, a lot of them were concluded rather conveniently, propping up amidst everything else that was going on.

As I really have stoped caring for the characters of this series, some time ago, this episode fast tracks the building of the conclusion of this series. Besides the animation being compendent and fluid in this series, I personaly think Sunrise dropped the ball with this series, with not puting much creativity into the various [...]
